The American humorist Don Marquis classified limericks as:
"$1 Limericks": Those that can be told in the company of ladies.
"$2 Limericks": Those that can be told in the company of a parson.
"$10 Limericks": Real limericks.
There are some of each below. Those easily offended may want to keep to the ladies and parsons, though the third features the "distinguished literary commentary" of Norman Douglas.
